BRL EUROPEAN CUP, A GREAT START!
The first round of the Bagger Racing League European Cup concluded yesterday at the Cremona Circuit. A highly anticipated event for two-wheel enthusiasts, it proved to be a true bridge between the biker world and racing fans.
This was confirmed by the large crowd, which not only watched the race from the grandstands but also flocked to the championship village, animated by bikers, tuners, exhibitors, and a strong sense of community.
Riders from Lithuania, Italy, Israel, Germany and Spain took part in the event.
The weekend kicked off as expected with the first practice sessions on Saturday, giving the riders a chance to familiarize themselves with the track. By Saturday afternoon, it was already time for Race 1, which saw poleman Manuel Grandi take the win on his Indian, followed by Andrea Tomio on a Ducati and Andreas Shäffer on a Harley Davidson. The race was marked by several crashes and served as a prelude to a remarkable story. During the race, Ruben Xaus suffered an irreparable engine failure and was forced to retire.
Dainius Suckelis did not participate in the race due to injuries sustained in a fall during practice. Just as his team was loading the bike back into the van, the lithuanian rider made a remarkable gesture—he offered his Harley to Ruben Xaus, enabling the spaniard to compete in Sunday’s race. A true story of motorcyclist solidarity, which Xaus honored by bringing the bike to the podium.
But let’s go in order: the large turnout at the Bagger Racing League European Cup village set the stage for a thrilling stunt show by Samuele Colombo aka Sangue, who performed an adrenaline-filled routine in front of the main grandstand just before the race began.
Then it was engines roaring and lights out. A fierce battle ensued, with Andrea Tomio taking the lead on his Ducati Diavel V4, followed by Manuel Grandi, Ruben Xaus, Kevin Mandredi, and Marco Attanasio.
The group stayed tight for the first two laps, during which Tomio attempted to break away. Behind him, Shäffer and Israel Pahima were locked in a duel, followed by Nazzareno Lumina, who was forced to return to the pits after a few laps, along with Luca Maggio.
Meanwhile, at the front, the duel between Grandi and Tomio heated up, with Grandi managing to pull away around mid-race. The fight for the third step on the podium was intense until the final lap, with Attanasio, Xaus, and Mandredi constantly swapping positions. The Swiss rider slid out at turn 10 on the final lap, handing the podium spot to Xaus, who was followed across the finish line by Mandredi. For fifth place, Israel Pahima edged out the German Shäffer after a race-long battle.
In the end, all smiles—especially from “rookie” Marco Attanasio, who, despite missing the podium by just a few corners, fulfilled his lifelong dream of battling it out with big names like Xaus and Mandredi.
