ANDREA TOMIO CROWNED 2026 EUROPEAN CHAMPION AFTER A SPECTACULAR JEREZ FINALE
The 2026 Bagger Racing League Europe season came to a close in the name of Andrea Tomio. It was on the prestigious Jerez de la Frontera circuit that the Italian rider completed a perfect weekend, winning both races and being crowned 2026 European Champion at the end of a round packed with battles, overtakes and dramatic twists.
Race 1: spectacular action and battles at the front
The first race of the weekend immediately delivered plenty of excitement. During the opening three laps, Andrea Tomio, James Ellison, Martin Vugrinec and Ivan Muñoz were involved in a fiercely contested battle for the leading positions, maintaining a fast pace and extremely small gaps.
Ellison, riding the Harley-Davidson of the Lords Racing Team, was fully involved in the fight for victory when a technical problem forced him to retire. At that point, the battle was left to Tomio and the Harley-Davidsons of Vugrinec and Muñoz.
The Attanasio Bagger Racing Team rider gradually managed to take control of the race and build the margin needed to cross the finish line first, while behind him the battle for second place remained open until the very last metre.
Martin Vugrinec, representing the Johny Maracas Bagger Racing Team, got the better of Ivan Muñoz of the Spanover Bagger Racing Team by just eight thousandths of a second, producing a thrilling photo-finish battle for the second step of the podium.
Rubén Xaus was also one of the protagonists of the race: a problem on the starting grid forced him to start from the pit lane, but the experienced Johny Maracas Bagger Racing Team rider refused to give up. Xaus began a spectacular comeback, putting together a series of overtakes and quickly making his way through the field, once again demonstrating all his experience and determination.
Tomio completed an impeccable Race 1 by also setting the fastest lap in 1’57.176.
Saturday was made even more special by the strong turnout from the public. Numerous motorcyclists and spectators came to the circuit to watch the races and experience the BRL Europe atmosphere up close. At the end of the on-track programme on Saturday evening, motorcycles, riders and fans took to the Jerez circuit for a major parade, turning the end of the day into a moment of celebration shared between the paddock and the public.
Race 2: the title decided in the final showdown
Sunday’s race began with an immediate and important twist. Rubén Xaus, still in contention for the title, was forced to miss the start due to a technical problem.
At the front, meanwhile, the battle immediately came alive between Ellison, Tomio, Vugrinec and Muñoz. For more than half the race, the four riders were involved in a close fight, with constant changes of pace and extremely small gaps.
As the laps went by, however, Tomio and Ellison managed to gain a small advantage over their pursuers, turning the final part of the race into a direct duel between the Italian and the British rider.
The battle was therefore decided only in the final corners, where once again it was the Italian who came out on top, taking his second victory of the weekend and, with it, the title of 2026 European Champion.
Behind him, James Ellison finished second just 1.359 seconds back, as the first Harley-Davidson across the line, while Martin Vugrinec completed the podium in third place.
It was a perfect finale for Tomio, who starred in both races with two victories and two fastest laps, a result that allowed him to end the season in the best possible way by claiming the 2026 BRL Europe Championship title.
The Spanish round also confirmed the high level of competitiveness throughout the field and, thanks to the presence of numerous fans and motorcyclists who came to the circuit on both Saturday and Sunday, gave the season a conclusion marked not only by the action on track, but also by a fantastic atmosphere in the paddock and the grandstands.
The Jerez circuit therefore provided the perfect stage for the conclusion of an intense, hard-fought and spectacular season, once again confirming the continued growth of the Bagger Racing League Europe on the international racing scene.
There is only one thing left to say: Congratulations Andrea!
